January Happenings

Post 2 for today

January was yet another busy month.  We got back into the routine of school, co-op, and L'il Girl's 2nd semester art classes.  Gymnastics is year round, so there was no break there.

We had a camp-in for American Heritage Girls on January 8th.  The girls were working on their cake decorating badge.  They had to bake a cake and the younger girls just had to ice and decorate it.  Big Girl had to make her icing, make a cake, cut it into shapes, and then decorate it.  After the cake decorating fun, they set up their sleeping bags in the church auditorium and camped in for the night.

Homeschooling is going pretty well over all.  I have started teaching our oldest boy who will be 4 this Saturday.  We've been working on letter sounds and starting to learn some sight words.  He is eager to learn and asks to do his school.

The weekend before last we had our first snowfall of the year.  It was pretty, but because of the mix of freezing rain and snow, it weighed down the trees and we ended up losing one of our Leyland Cyprus trees beside the house.  Thankfully it didn't hit our house or our neighbor's house.  We'll probably be having a big bonfire this weekend.

New Year's Weekend - we spent all of Saturday outside with a bonfire and then some bike riding.

The part you don't see is him wiping his mouth off right after the kiss.

My first attempt at making homemade chapstick.  Here are all the ingredients.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good it turned out.  I learned a few things that I need to tweak next time around too.

  1. Thanks so much for sharing all the pictures and for all the posts! I know it takes a lot of time to do all that and that is something you don't have very much of. Loved seeing all of them.
