When they got home, the first thing we did was get dressed for school. Big Girl wanted to wear a pretty dress for her first day. L'il Girl wanted to wear the same shirt and skirt she wants to wear every day - her monkey shirt and pink frilly skirt.
So we got ready and then came downstairs and they "rode/drove" the school bus to school, also known as the living room. I gave them instructions for the scavenger hunt, which began with the first clue in a balloon which they had to pop. That led them to another clue with a prize and then a few other clues and prizes, leading up to the biggest prize, a little container of mini Oreos. Needless to say, they were very excited. Their other prizes were school supplies - erasers, pencils, and a pencil case in the shape of a microphone.
Next they had to find as many pencils as they could hidden around the living room. It was like an inside Easter egg hunt, but with pencils.
Then we took measurements - height and weight - and recorded them on a big piece of paper along with the outline of their hands. They wrote their names and drew self portraits.
Lastly, we started into our school curriculum. With it being the first week, we aren't going to do all the subjects right away. We'll start the biggies, math, grammar, and phonics next week. Here's the curriculum list:
Big Girl - 2nd Grade
