Sitting Up & Scripture Memory

Baby Boy is sitting up a lot better these days.  Seems like each day he gets more stable and can sit for longer periods of time.  He's still trying to get past the initial "shock" of a meal that involves anything more than mommy's milk.  He's had a few meals of cereal and tried bananas yesterday, but so far he's not impressed with solids.

About a month ago, we instituted one Bible verse a week to commit to memory.  After dinner, we have devotions from a wonderful book called "God's Names" by Sally Michael, then Hubby has all three girls sit on the couch and they go over the memory verse for the week.  Big Girl has always done really well memorizing verses and even passages, but it's been hard to get L'il Girl to memorize them.  She has done excellent though - in fact - they all have!  What a blessing and joy it is to hear our children reciting God's Word!  This week we are working on John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God."  Big Girl had it memorized on Monday, the first day we went over it.  For incentive, if they can recite it correctly with the reference, they get a sticker on their chart.  I got some videos of Baby Girl saying her verses.  I think it's amazing how well she does for only being 2 years old.

So we started with why it's important to memorize Scripture - starting with Psalm 119:11 - "Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."  This teaches us that memorizing God's word and keeping it in our hearts can help keep us from doing the wrong things. Then we did Psalm 119:105 - "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path."   And then we went to creation - Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

Here are some videos of Baby Girl saying her verses and some pictures from this week.

This is where I found her yesterday morning. She went to sleep in her bed, but came downstairs during the night with her pillow, puppy, and dolls and laid on the chair near the bottom of the stairs.
