Thankful Thursday - reflux update

We have a lot to be thankful for. The results of today's testing were good, praise God!

Thank you all for the prayers today. We got to the hospital right at 7:30am and when we walked in to register, we saw Pastor waiting there for us. He prayed with us before we went back, which we really appreciated. Up first was the ultrasound to look at her kidneys and bladder. That went ok, but poor Big Girl was so frightened that she emptied her bladder on the ultrasound table. Then was the VCUG where they fill the bladder with liquid using a catheter and then watch it empty through x-rays. That was not a pleasant experience for any of us, but we got through it. Thankfully, everything looked ok and she does not have reflux. This test will only have to be repeated if she has a UTI with a high fever. She did not even have a fever with this last UTI. Praise God we should not have to have this done again and we are praying that she will not have any more UTIs. They haven't ruled out all the things that could have possibly caused her UTI, but they have ruled out reflux and that is a big answer to prayer. So unless she gets another UTI, we can just consider this a one time thing and not have any more testing. I praise God for His goodness to us!

  2. I'm very happy... the VCUG is pretty awful, isn't it? Alex loved the ultrasounds so got excited thinking they were going to look at her kidneys that way again and got the shock of her life when they shoved the catheter in! She's had two of these thus far. Very annoying. The first time the machine kept moving so I had to hold a screaming one-year-old's arms and the machine with my head... not fun! I'm glad all is well for Big Girl!
