"I Will Rise"

Let me start by saying that I try to keep my blog light and it is mostly of a journal of the girls' lives, but sometimes I feel compelled to share some deeper thoughts.

I heard this song on the way to pick up the girls this afternoon. I just love it! I have heard it before and thought it was pretty, but today I really listened to the words and it is even more beautiful than I initially thought. I've been thinking a lot about how blessed I am and how there are so many people close to us who are struggling physically, emotionally, and financially, but right now we are not having any of those struggles, praise God. My heart is burdened enough for those dealing with those struggles and I pray for them daily. But I keep thinking that even though the waters are smooth now, life can change in an instant. I like to think of myself as an organized person and part of being organized means being in control. Lately though, I've been realizing that no matter how organized I am, I am never in complete control. My life is totally controlled by God and He allows things in life to happen, both the good and the bad. I'm thankful that no matter what happens in this life, my hope and happiness as a born again believer lies in what's yet to come. Death is not the end for the Christian because Christ conquered death. One day I will rise with Him and what a glorious day that will be!!!

1 Corinthians 15:12-20
Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
